My name is Derek Freegard, all my mates call me "Del" - please call me Del - You lot are so friendly, you are my mates.

I am 52 or is it 51..confuse

I live in the south of England in a town called Chippenham.................



As a scale the distance to London (Ace Cafe) for me is 95 miles.

I work as an engineer in a small factory (Rotaval UK) - I am a fitter and CNC machinist there.

I started riding bikes when I was 16 years old in 1974 and have ridden them ever since, except for a break when my kids were young.

I do have a modern Yamaha XJR1300 which me and the wife goes out on when the weather is nice.

I also joined the Aircooled RD Club when I restored my old Yamaha RD200.


I have now sold that bike...no

In 2005 I bought this old rough 1976. Yamaha RD400C.

 

Since then I have improved it and made it how I like it....



I machined the discs at work.........biggrin



My biggest hobby is photography - I used to carry a camera in my pocket since the 70's and used to snap away.

I took on the roll of the editor  of the "Wella'RD" which is the Aircoolerd RD clubs magazine which goes out to 400 members around the world.



I also do a bit of reporting and photos of classic bike events for the Classic and Motorcycle Mechanics. I also do the occasional feature on bikes.

I even managed to get a cover picture when I tested a 1975 Harley and Guzzi.



I do have one other bike which is a long term restoration. A Suzuki GT500..

wow gt500....
i just bought an old gt185 year 1975 4 month ago.... im 20 years old now, very new in retro motorize world and still studies..... my gt185 still in old condition (need some restoration work) because the part for this gt185 in malaysia falter hard to find also did not have a good income hehehebiggrin...
do you have some pic or story for this gt185 for my reference?

The GT185 was the first bike I rode that was over 50cc.

That was way back in 1975.

I have the original sales brochures for them - I will scan and post a picture up.

erm.. can u make me a favor..huuhhu... i'm really interested to know about suzuki katana(especially pop up lamp & gsx S model) in uk..but its ok..settle other questions 1st.. im not rushing u..hahha..TQ

Otai31k is one of our best Old bikes restorer,
located at RMR center. Very fluent in english and hv
a lots of technical knowledge about engine and bikes.
his motto..... " anythings to do with speed"!aww
